Travelling by train

On arrival at Vienna Central Station: Follow the red signs to the U1 underground line. Take the U1 towards Leopoldau and get off at Karlsplatz station (2 stops). Take the U1 towards Leopoldau and get off at Karlsplatz station (2 stops).

On arrival at Vienna Westbahnhof: Follow the orange signs to the U3 underground line. Take the U3 towards Simmering and get off at Stephansplatz station (5 stops). Then follow the red signs to the U1 line. Take the U1 towards Reumannplatz/Oberlaa as far as Karlsplatz station (1 stop).

Travelling by plane

On arrival at Vienna International Airport (Vienna-Schwechat Airport): Follow the signs towards the railway station at the airport. You then have two options:

  • We recommend the trains operated by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB): Railjet trains heading for other Austrian cities (e.g. with Graz, Linz or Salzburg as their final destination) to Vienna Central Station (15 minutes, 1 stop).
  • Alternatively, the S7 S-Bahn and the REX 7 regional train run to Wien Mitte-Landstraße (23 minutes with 8 stops or 19 minutes with 4 stops). From there, follow the green signs to the U4 underground line. Take the U4 towards Hütteldorf to the Karlsplatz stop (2 stops). A single ticket costs around €4.20.
  • The City Airport Train (CAT) runs directly from the airport to Wien Mitte-Landstraße (15 minutes, 1 stop). From there, take the U4 to Karlsplatz as described above. A single journey on the CAT costs around €12.00 plus €2.40 for a single ticket on the Wiener Linien network.
