Günther Obermair won the 2025 Research Award from the "Bundeskammer der Ziviltechniker:innen" for his master's thesis.

Günther Obermair wrote his master’s thesis titled “Deep operator learning in computational solid mechanics” under the supervision of Prof. Stefanie Elgeti, winning the 2025 Research Award from the “Bundeskammer der Ziviltechniker:innen” in the field of Industrial Engineering. In his thesis, he developed an approach that combines classical engineering simulation methods with artificial intelligence. This allows mechanical problems to be calculated significantly faster, which is particularly useful for investigating numerous variants in development and design.

The 2025 Research Award of the “Bundeskammer der Ziviltechniker:innen” honors scientific theses in various categories. The Industrial Engineering division is chaired by Mr. Karl Deininger, Dipl.-Ing., MBA. The announcement of the award was made on February 4, 2026, and the official award ceremony will take place on September 15, 2026.
