2022 IEEE European Summer School of Information Theory

The IEEE European School of Information Theory (ESIT) is an annual educational event, organized by the IEEE Information Theory Society (ITSoc), for graduate students, postdocs and researchers from institutes throughout Europe and beyond. The objective of the school is to provide participants with the opportunity (i) to learn from distinguished lecturers by attending long-format tutorials, (ii) to present their own work to obtain feedback and to start up collaborations, (iii) to hear about applications of information theory in industry, and (iv) to participate in a stimulating and inviting forum of scientists.

ESIT 2022 is organized by Stefan Schwarz and Georg Pichler from the Institute of Telecommunications, TU Wien. The school will take place between July 3rd and 7th at TU Wien. We hope to be able to provide an on-site experience. If this is not possible due to the pandemic situation, we will instead offer a hybrid/virtual format.

The summer school will feature five half-day plenary tutorial lectures (on-site) and two online lectures with live virtual Q&A sessions. The lectures are given by renowned researchers from European and American Universities.

The school will also offer two poster sessions, in which school attendees can present their latest research results within fields related to information theory.

In addition, we will organize a number of social events to foster interaction between school attendees and lecturers.
