IoT-ZERO is starting on June 1st 2026 and will explore how future 6G IoT devices can operate with extremely low energy consumption — including battery-less and energy-harvesting approaches — while maintaining secure connectivity across terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks.

The project is coordinated by Andrea Ortiz Institute of Telecommunications and brings together a strong European consortium combining research excellence and industrial innovation: TU Wien Philipp Svoboda Institute of Telecommunications, Stefan Nastic (Distributed Systems), Thales (France), Qascom (Italy), LMT (Latvia), TU Delft (Netherlands),  Lasting Software (Romania), Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (Slovakia), Sensoneo (Slovakia) and IMDEA Networks (Spain).

Together, we will work on energy-aware architectures, ultra-low-power communication, and event-driven sensing to support more sustainable and long-lasting IoT deployments.
