Coronavirus – Update: Start winter semester 2021/22

The start of the new academic year is approaching, and after a long period of "distance learning", the winter semester 2021/22 will once again start with hybrid and also classroom formats in teaching, in addition to proven online formats.

Corona Update 20.09.2021

After a long period of "distance learning", the start of the new academic year brings hybrid and face-to-face formats back into teaching alongside tried and tested online formats. This is made possible by the security concept and compliance with 3G rules, as well as greater distances through a maximum of 50 percent occupancy in the teaching rooms. This should make more interactivity possible again and give students the opportunity to get to know each other personally, to exchange ideas and to get into direct contact with their lecturers.

The declared goal is to continue to work with digital formats as a face-to-face university of the future and to integrate them as a valuable addition to everyday university life. The winter semester 2021/22 will be a transition semester. This means that very large courses will still be held online, at least in part, and first-semester students will be subject to a cohort regulation for many courses.

On Thursday, 13 September 2021, the 6th Regulation of the Rectorate on measures for participation in face-to-face courses and examinations in the winter semester 2021/22, opens an external URL in a new window was published in the Official University Gazette. This ordinance forms the legal basis for the creation of the framework conditions for the implementation of attendance courses and examinations in the coming winter semester 2021/22.

In addition, the orientation guide for students, opens an external URL in a new window (german) was updated, which contains additional details on the implementation.
