Section 2a of the Statutes’ section on academic regulations provides for the establishment of a Senate Commission in accordance with Section 25(7) of the University Act (UG). Members are to be nominated or appointed to this Commission. The Commission’s remit is to be determined by the Senate.

Resolution on the establishment, composition and tasks of the Senate Commission on Curricula at the 139th meeting of the Senate on 20 October 2025

(1) The Senate shall establish a commission in accordance with Section 25(7) of the University Act for the purpose of consultation, preparation of resolutions and coordination in connection with the adoption and amendment of study plans.

(2) The Commission’s responsibilities consist of coordinating, supporting and further developing the drafting and amendment of study plans. The Commission works closely with the study programme committees and the proposal committees, advising and supporting them in the revision of study plans and the drafting of new ones. On behalf of the Senate, the committee oversees the guidelines for the drafting of study programmes (so-called model study programmes) and checks the study programmes for compliance with the provisions of the UG, the Statutes and the Senate’s guidelines (model study programmes).

(3) The committee is obliged to report to the Senate.

(4) At the express request of the Senate, the Commission shall consist of six members and shall be composed as follows:

1. Group of persons pursuant to Section 25(4)(1) of the University Act (Group Z 1): two representatives of university professors and of the heads of organisational units with research and teaching responsibilities or responsibilities relating to the development and promotion of the arts and the teaching of the arts, who are not university professors;
2. Group of persons pursuant to Section 25(4)(2) of the University Act (Group Z 2): two representatives of university lecturers and of academic and artistic staff engaged in research, the arts and teaching;
3. Group of persons pursuant to Section 25(4)(4) of the University Act (Group Z 4): two representatives of the students.

In accordance with Section 25(7) in conjunction with Section 25(9) of the University Act (UG), the number of members is to be determined in relation to the number of Senate members entitled to vote. The members of the group of persons referred to in Section 25(4)(1) of the University Act (UG) who are entitled to vote expressly agree to the ratio of 2:2:2 and expressly waive the right to nominate further representatives.

(5) The Commission is established as an advisory collegial body for the duration of the Senate’s term of office (Sections 25(7) and (10) of the University Act).
