Learn (more) about the funding jungle in 3 webinars!

The objective of this course is to impart basic principles of research funding programmes by giving you an overview of major national and EU funding schemes, by presenting the
different parts of an application and by explaning the reviewing process and the most
common evaluation criteria to ensure that you are prepared for future project submissions.

The course takes place entirely online: 3 video conference modules. Additional information and content will be provided on TUWEL.

The course is open to all TUW researchers and especially designed for researchers with - so far - little knowledge of national and/or EU funding programmes and those who just moved to Austria and/or started working at the TUW recently. And, of course, for everyone wanting to refresh and update their knowledge about the funding jungle.

Participants will be able to...

  • describe basic principles of research funding;
  • have an overview of major national and EU funding schemes;
  • understand the major parts of a research project proposal application;
  • understand the reviewing process and the most common evaluation criteria.

Non-targets: Elaborating specific project applications.

After your registration in TISS, you can enroll in the respective TUWEL course, where you will receive all information about how to access the online event (zoom link). Furthermore you will have the possibility to ask questions in advance in TUWEL, which we will integrate into the course.

Please register until July 6th. This event will be held in English and is open for all TUW researchers - limited number of particpants!

Information about the event

Since January 2019, the FWF requires a data management plan (DMP) for all projects approved under the new application guidelines. After one and a half years of mandatory research data policy,, opens an external URL in a new window the FWF now has the first empirical data, which will be presented to the participants and discussed together during the workshop.

At the same time, many Austrian institutions offer services for scientists to support them in research data management. They have been able to gain experience in this field over the last years. The workshop will provide an opportunity to get an overview of the existing services for research data management in Austria and will create a platform for further networking activities.

For representatives of research institutions, the event also offers the opportunity to tell the FWF who is responsible for questions on DMPs at their own institution and how the topic of research data management and Open Data is perceived by researchers.

Target group

Representatives from research services and libraries who are responsible for research data management at their institution

  1. Presentation FWF, speaker Katharina Rieck, FWF Strategy - Policy, Evaluation, Analysis: Previous experiences with DMPs and developments on the European level
  2. Presentation Barbara SánchezTU Wien Center for Research Data Management: DMP support using the example of the TU Wien, frequent queries from researchers
  3. Discussion with the participants: Experiences in research institutions, structures for future exchange and cooperation
