Univ.Prof. Mag.iur. Teresa Weber, MSc, opens an external URL in a new window was appointed University Professor of Public Law at the Vienna University of Technology effective June 1, 2026. CV: Teresa Weber is from Vienna and studied law at the University of Vienna and Law & Society at Leiden University. In 2014, she earned her doctorate in business law from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna) with a dissertation on the topic: “International and European Standards for Legal Protection in Environmental Law and Their Implementation in Austria: An Analysis Based on the Example of Water Law, opens an external URL in a new window,” during which time she worked not only as a university assistant at the Institute for Austrian and European Public Law at WU Vienna but also as a freelancer at ÖKOBÜRO, opens an external URL in a new window and the European Network of Environmental Law Organizations. After a stint in the office of the Deputy Governor of Salzburg as an advisor on environmental, construction, and legal affairs, Teresa Weber joined the University of Salzburg in 2014 as an assistant professor in the Department of Public Law, International Law, and European Law. During this time, her research stays took her to, among others, the German Research Institute for Public Administration in Speyer, the Max Planck Institute for Foreign Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, the Université de Liège, KU Leuven, and the University of the Pacific in California. In 2021, she received her venia docendi from the University of Salzburg in the subjects of constitutional law, administrative law, and European law with a habilitation thesis on the topic “Federal State Identities and Their Respect in EU Law, opens an external URL in a new window.” Since October 2022, she has been conducting research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and as of July 2024, she will serve as a University Professor of public law at Sigmund Freud Private University in Vienna.

Teresa Weber’s scientific home is the Research Unit of Law (E280-01) at the aforementioned institute. There, she focuses on legal issues related to transformative construction and planning, climate protection and sustainability law, and questions concerning democracy, governance, and civil society.
