Univ.Prof. Dr.-Ing. Francesca Taddei has been appointed University Professor of Structural Mechanics and Structural Dynamics at TU Wien with effect from June 16, 2025. She is assigned to the Institute of Structural Engineering (E212) of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Francesca Taddei comes from Perugia in Italy, where she also studied civil engineering at the Università degli Studi di Perugia, graduating in 2010 with a master's degree in structural engineering. During her master's studies, she completed internships at RWTH Aachen University and the University of Bristol. In 2010, she began her doctoral studies at RWTH Aachen University at the Chair of Structural Analysis and Structural Dynamics, which she completed with distinction (magna cum laude) in December 2015. Her dissertation is entitled “Numerical Investigation of Soil-Structure Interaction for Onshore Wind Turbines Grounded on a Layered Soil, opens an external URL in a new window”. Starting in May 2015, Francesca Taddei worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Technical University of Munich, where she was responsible for teaching, research, and third-party funding acquisition in the field of structural and building dynamics. Prior to that, she was a research assistant at RWTH Aachen University, where she was involved in several research projects, including as project manager in the DFG-funded German-Chinese project “Complex Soil-Structure Interaction Issues” and in the project “Investigation of the Effects of Soil-Structure-Drive-Train Interaction on the Design of Onshore Wind Turbines” as part of the 6th Energy Research Program of the BMWi. Energy Research Program of the BMWi.

Francesca Taddei's scientific home is the Mechanics and Structural Dynamics Research Unit (E212-03).
