Spasoje Miric, PhD, opens an external URL in a new window has been affiliated with the Institute of Mechatronics and Power Electronics (E369) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at TU Wien as University Professor of Electromagnetic Energy Converters and Drive Systems since January 1, 2026.
CV: Spasoje Mirić is from Belgrade (Serbia) and studied electrical engineering at the University of Belgrade, where he completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He subsequently earned his PhD there in 2018 in the field of power electronics with a dissertation titled “Method for Computationally Efficient Simulation of Power Electronic Converters Based on the State Space Model and Superposition of Switching Effects, opens an external URL in a new window”. He then began a second doctoral program at ETH Zurich, which he completed in 2021 with a dissertation on “Linear-Rotary Bearingless Actuators, opens an external URL in a new window.” After completing his doctorate, he conducted research as a postdoctoral fellow at the Power Electronics Systems Laboratory at ETH Zurich before moving to a tenure track position at the University of Innsbruck in 2022. In 2023, he became an associate professor and head of the Innsbruck Drive and Energy Systems Laboratory at the University of Innsbruck (UIBK). Spasoje Miric has been honored with numerous international research awards, including the IFAC Mechatronic Systems Young Researcher Award (2025) and several Best Paper Awards at IEEE conferences. In addition, Spasoje Miric actively collaborates with industry partners such as ASML, Infineon, and LinMot, and serves on the Advisory Board of the PCIM Europe Conference as well as on international expert committees of the IEEE and VDE.
His scientific home is in the Mechatronic Systems Research Group (E369-01) at the aforementioned institute, where he focuses on high-precision actuators, electromagnetic drive systems, power electronics for motor control, wireless power transfer, and the system integration of motors, power electronics, and sensor technology.
