CV: Siegfried Krainer studied Engineering Physics at Graz University of Technology, specialising in theoretical solid-state physics. He then began his professional career in industry, first at Siemens Bauelemente and then at Siemens Development Centre AG in Villach (which was later taken over by Infineon Technologies). In 2007, he moved to the AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology) to undertake an industry-related PhD in collaboration with Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. In 2011, he finally obtained his PhD with a thesis on the topic “Microarray-based real-time analysis of nucleic acid hybridisation and thermodynamics, opens an external URL in a new window”. After completing his doctoral thesis, he returned to Infineon Technologies in Villach, initially as a team leader for “Application Scouting”, and from 2014 as Head of TI COP (Technology and Innovation, Cooperation). Since 2019, he has been working as a Senior Principal for innovation, research funding and cooperation in the field of RF and sensor technologies. Alongside this, he has been involved in university teaching for many years at several Austrian and international higher education institutions, including MCI Innsbruck, Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, the University of Stuttgart and the University of Graz.
