Associate Prof. Dr.rer.nat. CV: İsmail İlkan Ceylan is originally from Turkey. After completing his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, he moved to TU Dresden to pursue his master’s degree in computer science. In 2017, he earned his Ph.D. there with a dissertation titled “Query Answering in Probabilistic Data and Knowledge Bases, opens an external URL in a new window” in the field of computer science. In 2018, his dissertation was honored with both the E. W. Beth Dissertation Prize from the Association for Logic, Language, and Information and the doctoral prize from the Faculty of Informatics at TU Dresden. During his doctoral studies, he completed research stays at the University of Oxford and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he collaborated with Adnan Darwiche’s research group. In 2018, he moved to the University of Oxford, where he initially served as a Senior Researcher. Since 2020, he has been a Departmental Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford and, concurrently, a Lecturer at Hertford College for several years.
