Last Friday, at the European Researchers Night, opens an external URL in a new window, we showed how radar waves scan the surface of the Earth.

Why are cities so bright and water so dark? How can this data help to detect and measure floods? How does geodesy help us understand the complexities of our Earth system, such as climate change?

Our departments not only explore the world with satellite images, but also use photogrammetry to measure majestic glaciers, picturesque rivers in the foothills of the Alps, the green Vienna Woods and the urban graffiti on the Danube Canal. These and other fascinating facets of our world are digitally imaged and analyzed by us .

Thanks to all who came by and dived into the world of research together with us.
