On January 23, 2026, a security incident occurred in the TU Wien network. Accounts were compromised in connection with this incident. At this time, it cannot be ruled out that sensitive may also have been accessed.

For security reasons, the IT systems at TU Wien are currently only available to a limited extent. Nevertheless, the majority of university operations can continue to be maintained.

The incident was reported to the data protection authority on January 26, 2026. The ongoing investigations are being supported by a specialized cybersecurity company.
