TÜV AUSTRIA acquires a majority stake in <link http: www.tvfa.at _blank>Technische Versuchs- und Forschungsanstalt (TVFA) at TU Wien. Austria’s number one in materials engineering and mechanical engineering competence thus becomes an even more attractive platform at the interface between industry and science.

Tear-resistant or break-resistant, light, elastic, pliable and/or durable. Materials must "be" many things – in steel production, the glass and plastics industry, in timber processing and in machine engineering.

The TÜV AUSTRIA Group’s many years of practical experience as well as inspection and certification competence in these areas are now complemented by the corporate partnership with TU Wien, adding the relevant research expertise in all matters pertaining to materials application and selection. From standardized tests through to complex research projects. The position as a leading competence center in materials engineering and mechanical engineering in Austria is further strengthened with TÜV AUSTRIA TVFA Prüf- und Forschungs GmbH.

For Stefan Haas, CEO of the <link http: www.tuv.at _blank>TÜV AUSTRIA Group, the goal behind bringing research expertise and long-standing practical experience together is to open up new opportunities to customers and partners with a broad portfolio of safety & security services. "Not only does this increase the innovative capacity, it also boosts the competitive edge and is a major contribution to quality assurance."

Sabine Seidler, Rector of TU Wien, added: "Pooling various types of expert knowledge is a crucial factor in strengthening Austria’s position as a research and innovation location."

TVFA sees itself as a technical platform at the interface between industry and science, as a service provider for mechanical engineering companies, for engineers and technicians, manufacturers and operators of systems and machinery, taking into account all relevant criteria such as safety & security, profitability, quality and environmental protection.
