New Workflow concerning Lecture Tube recordings

In order to make distance learning at the TU Wien even more efficient and comfortable for all participants, the procedure for registering a LectureTube recording has been improved.

Until now it was necessary to write a ticket to the LectureTube team and the subsequent communication and administration were relatively complex. From the 20th of April 2020 on, the programming of the recording of LVAs will be done directly by the authorized persons of the LVA in TISS.

New workflow for programming LectureTube recordings

In order to schedule a LectureTube recording, lecturers can use the LectureTube section within the e-learning tab in their LVA overview in TISS. A recording can only be scheduled for timeslots with an already confirmed room booking.

Conditions for a successful recording:

Only lecture halls that are already equipped with specific LectureTube hardware can be selected (when booking a room, it is possible to filter by rooms that are equipped with LectureTube)
The room reservation must be confirmed
The scheduling of the LectureTube recording must be done by a person with corresponding editing rights in TISS
Only after receiving an e-mail with details for the programming the recording ist confirmed

As soon as the programming for a LVA has been successfully done in TISS and scheduled in LectureTube, the series-ID will be shown in the e-learning tab in TISS. In addition, the lecturer will receive an e-mail with the details of the programming including the series-ID, which can be used to embed the videos in a TUWEL course.

In order to be able to synchronize all the LectureTube recordings with the TISS room bookings, we will export all recordings, that have been scheduled until the 14th of April 2020, 23:59 and import them in TISS and in LectureTube. This ensures that both systems have the same recording status. From Tuesday 14th of April 2020, 23:59 until Thursday, 16th of April 2020, 18:00 no LectureTube recordings can be scheduled.

From the 20th of April 2020 on, after a successful synchronization of both systems, the programming of the recording of LVAs will be done directly by the authorized persons of the LVA in TISS. As of this date, no programming for LectureTube recordings of courses will be accepted via the support address support@lecturetube.tuwien.ac.at.

Streaming of LVAs from lecture halls via LectureTube Live is not recommended and without support since 23.03.2020.
