Our new Talk series on leadership is dedicated to the current challenges for leaders who are particularly challenged in times of crisis. In three talks, we will examine the three force fields of leadership and you will learn from experts what you need to consider as a leader in times of crisis at the individual level (1), team level (2) and organizational level (3). Which factors are essential in times of crisis in these three force fields and how can you make your leadership skills crisis-proof?
In the talks, the experts Leo Flammer, Mag. Dr. Klaus Niedl and Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Güttel will share their insights on leadership in times of crisis and their many years of professional experience.

February 10, 2021, 6pm, Leadership Talk #1: Dealing with Uncertainty & Loss of Control, Leo Flammer in conversation with Wolfgang Güttel.

In this talk, Prof. Dr. Güttel in conversation with Leo Flammer sheds light on the role of leaders in times of crisis and their individual options for exerting influence. In times of crisis, the time for decisions is extremely short and yet leaders must remain capable of acting. In addition, the behavior of managers is closely observed by employees. What competencies do managers need to deal with uncertainty and loss of control in a constructive way?

Leo Flammer is a management consultant with a focus on tactical-strategic consulting and executive coaching in complex situations. In addition to his lecturing activities with a focus on negotiation management and situation assessment, he also advises executives from politics and business in difficult decision-making situations.

February 24, 2021, 6 pm, Leadership Talk #2: Dealing with Teams in Times of Crisis, Klaus Niedl in conversation with Wolfgang Güttel.

In part two of our Virtual Leadership Talks, Mag. Dr. Klaus Niedl addresses the challenges leaders face at the team level in times of crisis. In an interview with Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Güttel, he shows how digital leadership can work well and which skills are essential when dealing with the team. What are the challenges of digital leadership? And how can managers give their teams direction and confidence in times of crisis?

Mag. Dr. Klaus Niedl is a human resources expert and change manager in the financial services, airline and industry sectors. He is a board member of an airline and currently Global Human Resources Director of Novomatic, responsible for approx. 24,000 employees worldwide. He has more than 10 years of restructuring experience in crisis companies, is Advisor to the Dean of the IEDC School of Management, Bled/Slovenia and University Lecturer at WU Vienna.

March 9, 2021, 6 pm, Leadership Talk #3: How do I Create a Crisis-Proof Organization?, Wolfgang Güttel in conversation with Catherina Purrucker.

In the final event of the Virtual Leadership Talks, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang H. Güttel lays out the framework for leadership with the organizational level and explains in conversation with MMag.a Catherina Purrucker how leaders can lay the foundation for a flexible and crisis-proof organization.

Prof. Dr. Wolfgang H. Güttel is University Professor of Human Resources and Business Management at the Institute of Management Sciences and Dean of the Continuing Education Center (CEC) at the Vienna University of Technology.
