As part of this year's 4GameChangers Festival, the State Prize for Digitalisation will be awarded on 14 May 2024.

The e-learning platform MELODI was developed at our institute to provide a flexible solution for teaching digital hardware design, testing and prototyping. MELODI offers an efficient solution, especially for the remote or e-learning sector, which has become an important necessity worldwide due to the COVID19 pandemic.

The MELODI team consists of Friedrich Bauer, opens an external URL in a new window, Felix Georg Braun, opens an external URL in a new window, Daniel Hauer, opens an external URL in a new window, Markus Daniel Kobelrausch, opens an external URL in a new window Martin Mosbeck, Nima Taherinejad, opens an external URL in a new window and Philipp-Sebastian Vogt, opens an external URL in a new window.

The aim of MELODI is to enable students to model a hardware design and check the functionality of their solution on real hardware (an FPGA) remotely via a website with a webcam (directed at the hardware) and also interact with it. The special feature of this set-up is the fact that up to eight students can simultaneously test their developed solutions on MELODI.

A concrete example would be the control of a small display: the students have to model the corresponding hardware (control logic) and can then interactively send text to the display on the website and observe the success of their solution via the webcam.

MELODI was submitted to the State Prize for Digitalisation and made it into the top 3 nominations. This meant that our team was live at the 4GAMECHANGERS Festival, opens an external URL in a new window. The presentation of the State Prize took place on 14 May 2024 at 20:00.

We are delighted about the nomination and congratulate!
