If you actively involve people in a study or survey, you need their consent beforehand. But what does this consent need to look like? What information does the person need to be able to decide for or against participation? What helps to establish a good relationship of trust between study participants and researchers right from the start? Do you need a separate confirmation of consent for data protection aspects?

Answers to these questions and much more practical information can be found in the Guidance document informed consent: good practice recommendations, opens an external URL in a new window. The guide was prepared by the departments of Research Ethics and Compliance at TU Wien.
