In order to achieve the goal of "zero-emission mobility" by 2050, everyone is talking about mobility transformation. The demand for innovative solutions in management, leadership and technology is constantly increasing. The MBA Mobility Transformation offers a basic technical understanding and key business qualifications to build up decision-making competence in general management issues against the background of technological developments. In addition to application-oriented examples, a field trip complements the program to gain exclusive insights into real-life situations.

The company has three core areas: Instrumentation and Test Systems, Advanced Simulation Technologies and Powertrain Development. AVL invests more than 10% of its revenue in internal research and development to provide innovative and comprehensive solutions to its customers, as future technologies impact the need for engineers. With its methodology and technology, AVL is well prepared to meet these future needs. During the tour, participants visited the battery testing facility, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) department, driver simulator for racing, complete vehicle test benches, and the acoustic chamber.

The city center of Graz has a pedestrian zone where several stores are located. Between 5 and 10 a.m. vehicles with max. 7.5 t are allowed to enter the pedestrian zone to deliver goods. Outside this time window you need an exemption. In December 2019, 90 trips were measured between 10 and 11 am. The city of Graz wanted to reduce delivery traffic in the city center and the pollution caused by delivery traffic. To achieve the goal starts a project "GrazLog". The project "GrazLog, opens an external URL in a new window". realized an environmentally friendly last mile transport with E-vehicles in the city center of Graz. Thereby 4 E-charging stations were built in the hub.

On the basis of this excursion, the participants could take a deep look into the ongoing research and development work of one of the leading high-tech companies in Austria and get to know the currently running innovative logistics optimization project in Graz.
