A new chapter for sustainable mobility

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Dieter Grebe will head the Institute of Powertrains and Automotive Technology (IFA) as a new professor from 1 September 2024.

Uwe Dieter Grebe has been Executive Vice President on the AVL Executive Board since 2012. In this role, he is responsible for global business development, sales and international business for two-wheelers, passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and racing. On 1 September, he will take up a professorship at the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.

At the same time, TU Wien will implement a new model for innovation and industry cooperation by founding the consulting company AME GmbH (Automotive & Mobility Engineering GmbH). This will serve as a facilitator and platform for technology transfer and the exchange of the best ideas for TUW's industrial partners and support the ongoing transformation of the automotive sector. As Managing Director, Prof Grebe will ensure a perfect link between the latest research and its practical implementation.

TU Wien will be active in the fields of automotive drive technology, energy supply such as battery storage, hydrogen and e-fuels as well as software/hardware concepts such as by-wire technologies. Based on the existing research and development infrastructure in the Campus Science Centre (Arsenal area), TU Wien is ready to collaborate with industrial and academic partners worldwide in order to respond quickly to the need to transform the automotive sector.
