We have started a new project. The recent human and climate impacts on the water cycle pose major challenges for the environment, the economy, and society. The new Danube Water Balance project aims to set up and improve transboundary and cross-sectoral cooperation in water management in the Danube River Basin (DRB). The project focuses on developing a harmonized water balance modeling system in the DRB, improving data management, fostering capacity building by organizing workshops and training, and establishing an expert hub of modeling experts, water managers, and other professionals from water-related sectors.

The project partners are from all DRB countries. The project consortium consists of 20 project partners from 11 countries (6 from 3 non-EU ones) and 13 associated partners. It is the first time that all Danube countries would work jointly to achieve a better understanding and a common interpretation of the water balance to create the foundations for improved management of water resources.
