Are you already using TUgitLab?

With the establishment of a university-wide GitLab service, the TU Wien offers its own platform for source code management.

The TU.it provided, on the request of several institutes, the service TUgitLab, opens an external URL in a new window. After a limited test run it is now available to all members of the TU Wien with an active TUW account. As the name suggests, it is a GitLab instance that can be used to manage source code repositories. The Center for Research Data Management recommends everyone to use this service for all projects which develop software.

Focus on collaboration and publishing

This service supports researchers and students to collaborate on joint software projects and enables them to publish source code when needed. This also allows external users to search and view the already published projects.

Each employee can create up to ten repositories and, if required, make them publicly visible. Please note that it can take up to a day to obtain the necessary permissions.

For repositories that are managed in groups or which require collaboration of exernal users, an institute administrator is required. Instructions on how to apply for appropriate permissions and further information on the TUgitLab can be found on the TU.it website, opens in new window and in the FAQs, opens an external URL in a new window.

Further development

TU Wien strives at adapting and further developing existing services according to your demands. If you have any suggestions for the TUgitLab service or need additional features for your research purposes, please write to help@it.tuwien.ac.at.
