About the Expert

Alice Schmidt, opens an external URL in a new window is a global sustainability advisor and business consultant who has spent 22+ years engaging at the intersection of social, environmental and economic affairs. She has worked in 30 countries on 4 continents for UN agencies, the European Commission, the African Union, the World Bank, many NGOs and small social enterprises as well as large multinationals across industries (food & agriculture, energy, mining, pharma, telecoms).  

Besides running a sustainability consultancy firm (www.aliceschmidt.at, opens an external URL in a new window) and acting as board or jury member for several sustainability institutions (Circular Economy Forum Austria, Vitalpin Klimainvest, Green Marketing Award, Protect Our Winters, endeva e.V., etc.), Alice teaches “Sustainable Business and Management for Tomorrow” at WU (Vienna University for Economics and Business).   Alice regularly publishes about climate and other sustainability issues, including her new book ‘The Sustainability Puzzle: How Systems Thinking, Circularity, Climate Action and Social Transformation Can Improve Health, Wealth and Wellbeing for All’ (www.sustainability-puzzle.org, opens an external URL in a new window).
