Shaping Diversity, Developing Structures

At TU Wien, we understand diversity not just as a topic, but as an integral part of our daily work. It affects everyone – in studies, teaching, research, and administration – and shapes how we collaborate and create knowledge. Our goal as the Diversity Management department is to make diversity visible and actionable: through knowledge transfer, consulting, awareness-raising, and concrete measures that promote equal opportunities and participation.

We create spaces for dialogue and reflection, develop strategies, support change processes, and help university members understand diversity as both a resource and a responsibility. Our approach is practical, evidence-based, and participatory – because sustainable change can only be achieved together.

Strategic Significance and Approach

Diversity shapes the daily life and development of our university. As the Diversity Management department, we work to highlight this potential, dismantle barriers, and promote inclusive structures. Our goal is not only to address diversity, but to embed it as a core principle and cross-cutting issue in all areas. Our work is grounded in fairness, mutual learning, and the willingness to navigate tensions and contradictions.

Our work combines practical experience with a strategic perspective. Through projects, networks, and awareness-raising initiatives, we provide impetus, promote diversity leadership, and support university members in actively shaping diversity. We know that change requires time and resources – which makes it all the more important to shape these processes collaboratively and with clear purpose.

Together, we shape the future: with conviction, expertise, and the belief that innovation thrives where diversity is recognized, embraced, and used constructively.
