At TU Wien, we understand diversity management as an integral component of future-oriented university development. Protection against discrimination and the promotion of equal opportunities for people with disabilities are legally enshrined obligations.

Universities serve as role models for society: They should reflect its diversity and actively work to dismantle barriers. This goal is explicitly anchored in the Universities Act 2002 – including with regard to equality, social equality of opportunity, and inclusion.

Diversity and inclusion are not only legal obligations, but also key factors in the quality of research, teaching, and the work environment. Funding institutions such as the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), and the Christian Doppler Research Association (CDG) increasingly require evidence of diversity measures in applications and evaluations.

An inclusive university is not only a role model but also an attractive place to study and work.
