Technical Mathematics (Master)
Mathematics plays a crucial role in the development of science and technology. The Master's Programme “Technische Mathematik” (hereafter: “Technical Mathematics”) offers a wide range of opportunities to delve deeper into theoretical and application-oriented areas. During this programme, you will learn to solve complex problems and acquire a structured, analytical approach. The flexible structure of this programme consists of a small, theory-based compulsory catalog and a wide range of options, thus providing a good opportunity to specialize according to your own interests, for example in the areas of Analysis, Discrete Mathematics, Geometry, Modeling and Numerical Simulation. The opportunity to gain a strong theoretical foundation in the areas analysis, numerical mathematics, discrete mathematics, logic, and geometry offers a wide range of opportunities to participate in current mathematical research and subsequently pursue an academic career.

Due to the wide range of choices available, courses do not have a recommended semester. In the first three semesters, students are usually required to complete
- Compulsory subjects/Specialisations (30-36 ECTS):
- Applied Mathematics: Focus on modeling with differential equations and numerical simulation or
- Discrete Mathematics: Focus on analysis of algorithms, logic and advanced combinatorics or
- Analysis and Geometry: Focus on in-depth theoretical training in both areas.
- Subject specific electives (45-51 ECTS)
- Free electives and transferable skills (9 ECTS)
In the fourth semester, the focus is entirely on writing a master thesis.
Further Information
Admission to this Master’s programme is possible after completing an eligible Bachelor’s degree at an accredited national or international post-secondary educational institution.
