We are happy to receive many different open-minded school graduates from all types of school. It is absolutely not necessary to have attended a relevant higher technical education institute. Anyone with an interest in science or technology and a reasonable grasp of mathematics can study electrical engineering and information technology.
The bachelor's programme nominally lasts 6 semesters, and the master's courses based on it generally take place over 4 semesters. A small number of students complete it in less time; many require significantly longer, not least because they undertake paid employment alongside their studies. Anyone studying full-time should be able to complete the bachelor's plus master's progammes within 12 semesters.
When you hear the phrase ‘electrical engineering and information technology’ you may think of power stations, electricity grids and household devices, but actually it covers some extremely topical subjects, for example: 4th generation mobile internet, photonics, microsystem technology, nanoelectronics, traffic telematics and distributed intelligence. We all use electronic devices on a regular basis — mobile phones, computers, entertainment electronics. In industry, automated systems control complicated production processes and information processing takes place on all levels. The bachelor’s programme Electrical Engineering and the follow-on master’s courses open the door to many fascinating opportunities. An academic qualification in the field of electrical engineering is future-proof: our graduate engineers enjoy an excellent international reputation and are in high demand in the job market! The course offers numerous opportunities for a well-paid job and allows you to take up many further development opportunities in the course of your career.
You can obtain the brochure "Flight 235" containing all the information you might need at the start of your studies, from the Studies Department. The foundations of the course start with Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Programming, Data Communications and Digital Systems. The second and third years of the bachelor's programme offer broad, methodical scientific training in all areas of electrical engineering and information technology. In addition, business administration, project management and soft skills are taught. With technology lifelong learning is essential: particular attention is devoted in this university course to developing the ability to absorb knowledge independently, to solve new problems and to classify and analyse new developments correctly.
The equipment available is state of the art, the available space is sufficient in terms of quality and quantity. Neither the bachelor’s programme nor the follow-on master’s courses are oversubscribed. There are plenty of free spaces and sufficient mentoring staff in all courses.
