TU Wien attempts to support prospective students in their decision making phase for their studies, while ensuring the high and internationally recognized quality of their studies and teaching.

As of the winter semester 2019/20, there will be either admission or selection procedures (for bachelor's programmes with limited places) for all bachelor's programmes at TU Wien or a study preparation and reflection phase (PRe phase) for bachelor's programmes without place restrictions.

Details on the PRe phase can be found here.

The bachelor’s programme lasts 6 semesters (180 ECTS credits). You acquire sound methodical, scientific and engineering knowledge. Particular importance is given to the foundational and core subject areas. You develop your analytical and interdisciplinary thinking and spatial awareness as well as abstraction and modelling skills. You receive a comprehensive overview of the varied fields of work related to civil engineering, from structural engineering, building construction and geotechnics to infrastructure management, including road and railway construction, resource management and water construction. You obtain skills and competences that enable you to recognise and assess the interaction between technical developments and the environment.

The course is open to anyone with an interest in technical and scientific processes and solving complex tasks. You should be willing to cooperate with other specialist planners and have a desire to take on a high degree of responsibility in your work.

As a graduate, there are development opportunities open to you in many different areas. You can expect a varied world of work, characterised by interdisciplinary cooperation. As a civil engineer, you design our technical environment, plan construction projects and infrastructures and play a crucial role in their implementation, maintenance and disposal.

You plan and implement measures for sustainability, protecting the environment and preventing disasters. Your professional life could be spent in engineering companies, construction companies, the building materials industry, the public sector and in universities and other research institutions.

It is possible to participate in exchange programmes as part of the course. A wide range of different places at partner universities are available to you for this purpose.
