Entry to the Master's Programme in Electrical Power Engineering and Sustainable Energy Systems is open to students with a relevant Bachelor's Degree or who hold another relevant qualification awarded by at least the same level of higher education institution recognised nationally or internationally. Relevant qualifications include the Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering awarded by TU Wien and the Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering awarded by TU Graz.
To compensate for any key technical variations, students are required to follow alternative or additional courses and pass examinations up to a maximum of 30 ECTS credits during the course of their Master's Programme.
People for whom German is not their first language must provide evidence of their knowledge of the German language as required by § 63 para. 1 clause 3 of the Austrian Universities Act.
Proficiency in German at Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is recommended for successful progress in the course.
Individual courses may be taught in English, and there may be documentation available in the English language. Proficiency in English at Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is therefore recommended.
The Master's Programme in Electrical Power Engineering and Sustainable Energy Systems features teaching in small group sizes and thus a high degree of supervision. As well as a sound education in scientific methods, particular focus is placed on the application of knowledge acquired in laboratory environments. You are therefore able to apply your knowledge to practical tasks and problems relevant to industry. The Master's Programme also offers the opportunity to research issues from current scientific research projects and industrial co-operations with the relevant institutes.

While studying for the Master's Programme in Electrical Power Engineering and Sustainable Energy Systems, students acquire an in-depth understanding of technical and scientific contexts within electrical power engineering based on the current state of science and technology. In particular, students are trained in comprehensive problem-solving skills and the requirement for holistic "systematic thinking" for surveying complex interrelationships. Students can acquire in-depth methodological skills and expertise in the areas of sustainable energy provision, smart power transmission and distribution, efficient energy use, the energy industry, electrical drive technology, electric machines and power electronics. As graduates of this Master's Programme, students are themselves masters of scientific principles and methods, which provide them not only with a sound basis for their future careers, but also for the pursuit of a higher qualification within the context of a specialist Doctoral Programme.
