Start your studies successfully with the Welcome Days!
For the first time, the TU Wien Welcome Days will take place in September 2026 in a new format and will offer all first-year students a comprehensive introduction to university life.
At the TU Wien Welcome Days, you will receive all the important information for a successful start to your studies. Get to know the university, your program, and life in Vienna, and connect with fellow students.
The Welcome Days are organized by Student Support and the International Welcome and Engagement Center (IWEC) of TU Wien and will take place at various TU Wien locations.
Welcome Days: Bachelor
September 14, 2026 - presentations in German
Programme Welcome Day: Bachelor – September 14 (in German)
9:00 a.m. – Check-in
The day begins at 9:00 a.m. with check-in. Our TU Guides will be waiting for you on site and will accompany you to the opening ceremony.
9:30 a.m. – Opening Ceremony
Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Jasmin Gründling-Riener will open the Bachelor Day together with the organizers Kyle Schmude (International Welcome and Engagement Center, IWEC) and Christoph Brunner (Student Support).
10:00 a.m. – Keynote
In the keynote address, a TU Wien alumnus will share personal insights into the transition from college to professional life.
10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. – Fair, presentations, and community
Starting at 10:30 a.m., several program items will run concurrently. You decide for yourself what interests you:
Fair in the Prechtl Hall, opens an external URL in a new window: All degree programs and service units at TU Wien will be represented here. At the booths, you can ask questions directly about your degree program and the services offered by TU Wien. The fair ends at 3:30 p.m.
Information about studying: In 30-minute presentations, you’ll learn everything you need to know about starting your studies. Each presentation is repeated five times—so you’re free to choose when to attend which one.

Starting at 3:00 p.m. – Faculty-Specific Program
In the afternoon, the focus shifts to your field of study: During the faculty-specific programme, you’ll get to know your degree program, your faculty, and your future colleagues better.
All day – Food trucks in Courtyard 1
In Courtyard 1, you’ll find food trucks for a quick break. We’ll treat you to a free meal!

The TU Wien’s Study Start Grant supports high-achieving first-year students from families facing socioeconomic challenges with 400 euros per month for two semesters (in addition to the student grant) as well as a comprehensive support program.
