Conditions for International Students
ATTENTION! For the application of admission from summer semester 2019 is necessary to provide proof of German language skills at the Level A2 or higher.
The following certificates are accepted for a periode of two years beginning with the examination date:
- Österreichisches Sprachdiplom - ÖSD Zertifikat A2
- Goethe Institut - Goethe Zertifikat A2
- telc Deutsch A2
- Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz DSD I
- Sprachenzentrum der Universität Wien - Prüfung auf dem Niveau A2/2
How do I apply?
Each applicant with a foreign secondary school leaving exame or an degree of an university abroad has to apply for admission to a bachelor, master or doctoral programme in writing.

The admission procedure is supported and processed by the Admission Office.
International Students (except EU/EEA-citizen), who wish to start or continue their studies at Vienna University of Technology, need to submit their complete application for enrolment (with all required documents) for
winter semester until 5th September
summer semester until 5th February
EU/EEA-citizen are adhered to deadlines of the general admission period.
If you decided to study at Vienna University of Technology you have to proof the possession of the general university entrance qualification, possession of the special university entrance qualification (except EU/EEA-citizen) and proficiency in German language.
The general university entrance qualification for a bachelor degree programme is established by proof of a secondary school leaving certificate (equivalent to an austrian certificate), for a master or doctoral programme by proof of succesful completation of a relevant degree programme at a recognized domestic or foreign university, university of applied science or at an equivalent institution.
The language of instruction at Vienna University of Technology is German. Therefore, German language knowledge on level C1 (according to CEFR) is an admission requirement. Find further information here.
Non-EU-citizen have to provide proof of their right to study the chosen degree programme at a recognized/accredited university in the country that issued the secondary education diploma/the degree. In general, the tuition fee is € 363.36 per semester, respectively € 726.72 for non-EU nationals. Apart from this amount, you will also need to pay the students‘ union fee incl. insurance (€ 19.20) per semester). Read more about it here.
