We are happy to announce the start of the new research project „Pathways to Transformation“ (04/2026-09/2028). It accompanies the Cluster of Excellence (CoE) „Microbiomes Drive Planetary Health (MicroPlanets), opens an external URL in a new window“ (FWF) and fosters ethical reflection on the societal and political contextualization of microbiome research.

The project develops settings and methods (e.g. interviews, hackatons) to reflect on horizons of relevance in research, with a focus on their ethical, social and political dimensions. In doing so, the project supports researchers in sounding out the relation between their research and future sustainability transformations and of improvements in health care.

The project is a cooperation between the Service Unit of Responsible Research Practices at TU Wien (Lisa Sigl) and the Department of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Vienna (Maximilian Fochler).
