The Policy for Research Data Management at the TU Wien reaffirms the value of research data for research and teaching and the potential of its reuse by society.

Researcher survey

Are you interested in what researchers at the TU Wien have to say about the handling of research data? In 2015, an Austria-wide, quantitative online survey was carried out as part of the project e-Infrastructures Austria, opens an external URL in a new window in order to draw conclusions about the requirements and the expansion of the associated services in the area of research data management. In the report "Forschende der TU Wien und ihre Daten", opens an external URL in a new window you can find the results for our institution. Please note that this report is only available in German.

Development of TU Wien internal repositories

Within the FAIR Data Austria, opens an external URL in a new window project, the infrastructures for research data management at the TU Wien are being further developed. A code repository in the form of an institutional GitLab instance, opens an external URL in a new window has already been set up by, and a data repository is expected to be available to members of the TU Wien from autumn 2021. Additionally, a machine-actionable DMP tool and a central contact point for questions about the FAIR principles will be offered in the near future. The conception of a repository for databases and complex datasets is another topic on the agenda.

The FAIR Data Austria project is one of the selected digitisation projects at public universities which are funded by the BMBWF between 2020 and 2024. Project partners are TU Graz (lead) and the University of Vienna. Furthermore, the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the Medical University of Graz and the University of Innsbruck are involved in the project as cooperation partners as well as 23 associated partners (universities and international initiatives). FAIR Data Austria, together with the funded projects Austrian DataLAB and Services, opens an external URL in a new window and RIS Synergy, opens an external URL in a new window, forms the Cluster Research Data, opens an external URL in a new window, which is coordinated by TU Wien.
