Workshops in the 2026/2027 winter semester
Our training within TU Wien’s internal continuing education programme is tailored to the demands of TU Wien researchers. Please let us know if you see a need for additional training in data management or beyond. We’re also happy to visit you at your site! Therefore, our introduction to TU Wien’s data repository will take place at the Getreidemarkt campus this time. NEW: Interactive computing for teaching and research with Jupyter

Jupyter notebooks have become a powerful tool for both education and research, enabling users to combine code, text, visualisations, and results in interactive and reproducible documents. In the new workshop Interactive computing for teaching and research with Jupyter, instructors from the Campus IT dataLab introduce the Jupyter ecosystem and demonstrate how notebooks can support teaching, learning, and research. Data repository goes Getreidemarkt
17 November 2026, 15:00 – 16:30
This time, our data repository workshop will be held deliberately at the Getreidemarkt campus. However, anyone interested is welcome to attend! You will learn how DOIs, licenses for data and code, the FAIR principles, and TU Wien’s institutional data repository can help you preserve your research data and share it with others. We will show you the potential of the repository’s community feature, how automated uploads via the REST API work, and how different versions of datasets are handled. New course “Data Management for Science and Engineering”
This blended-learning lecture and exercise (VU, 4 ECTS) was developed as part of the AI4ALL project. It teaches students of natural sciences and engineering the fundamentals of data management and starts in the winter semester 2026/2027. The course covers how data is structured, stored, queried, and managed throughout its lifecycle, starting from conceptual data modelling and relational database design, and utilises Python and TU Cookbooks, opens an external URL in a new window. A series of interlinked exercises supports the learning process and illustrates the entire data lifecycle using real-world datasets from various academic disciplines.
The course is aimed at Bachelor’s and Master’s students without a background in computer science.
