The TUW Heating Labs are based on the HL 320 Solar Thermal and Heat Pump modular system from G.U.N.T. The system supports the experimental assembly of combined heat supply systems from renewable and conventional sources, coupled with two thermal storage tanks and a range of consumer geometries. The individual modules are hydraulically connected via quick-release couplings and networked via a CAN bus; two freely programmable universal controllers (UVR16X2) and a communication module (CMI) form the original control and data acquisition layer.

The TUW Heatings Labs and TUW H2 Lab are fully integrated into the overarching SCADA of the TUW AI Energy Lab. Research priorities include heat pump operating strategies, multivalent supply architectures, thermal storage management, and integration with time-varying electricity price signals.
