For school pupils and all interested persons
As a public library, TU Wien Bibliothek invites school pupils and anyone who is interested to get to know and use the library.
Pupils over the age of 14 are given a library card free of charge, for borrowing up to 10 works at the same time and using our electronic services. For more information about the card and the documents required to issue one, see library card and library account.
To give school pupils an understanding of how to use the library and search for literature, we provide introductions for school classes and are happy to help with pre-academic research.
Introductions for school classes and external groups
On request, we provide guided tours as well as introductions to using the Main Library and the Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering Library. We will be happy to discuss and agree what should be included.
Possible content: overview of library services and projects, the CatalogPlus discovery portal, searching selected databases as required, a guided tour of the building (including explaining how the literature is kept, initial consultation, circulation desk)
For planning to be effective, please contact us as soon as possible at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Interested members of the public
We hold regular exhibitions of the knowledge generated at TU Wien. We also participate in national events such as the "Österreich liest" literature festival, and are a place where you can meet and exchange ideas in the course of a series of lectures on current and socially relevant topics (such as "Trust in robots").
