INES – Start of regular operations for standard training courses in INES

[Translate to English:] INES

A working group comprising members of the Vice-Rectorates for Human Resources, Digitalisation and Infrastructure, and Academic Affairs has been working on a new course management system since October 2025 and has implemented and tested the monitoring of mandatory training courses in ines through pilot modules. ines stands for ‘Internal Education System’. ines is the platform for in-house training at TU Wien. Since 18 May 2026, all standard training courses (which are mandatory for TU Wien staff) will be administered via ines. This autumn, the current PE continuing education catalogue in TISS is to be replaced by an expanded version of ines

At present, there are several different target groups for the standard training courses, such as new staff members, new lecturers, heads of departments and employees. However, the course allocation varies depending on whether the employment period – within the framework of a genuine employment contract – lasts longer or shorter than six months, or involves more or fewer than 10 hours per week at TU Wien.

TU Wien is currently the only university where it is possible to monitor these standard training courses; furthermore, the system for sending invitations and reminders, involving immediate superiors and even issuing warnings – in the event of refusal to complete these training courses mandated by the Rectorate – will go live in mid-May.

A big thank you goes out to all the pilot units involved for their commitment and feedback during the project phase.
