Project description:

  • The D-A-CH countries share the challenge that the existing bridge network is ageing and many structures will have to be replaced by new constructions in the coming decades. Within the framework of a joint research project, an innovative, modular deck slab system made of ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) is therefore being developed, which is suitable for bridges with single- and multi-span systems as well as different longitudinal girder materials. The focus is on the design of a durable and robust cross-section that enables serial prefabrication and efficient assembly on the construction site. In order to clarify key technical issues, extensive experimental investigations are carried out. These serve to verify the load-bearing capacity, serviceability and durability of individual details as well as of the overall system.

The project is funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) as part of the funding program: MW 24/26, MW 24/26, Mobility Transition: DACH 2025 road infrastructure. Further information can be found here:  projekte.ffg.at/projekt/5141485
