Brief information on the project

The project SARS Linz 2024 - 2026 is a successor project to SARS Linz 2022/2023 and SARS Linz 2023/2024 and also deals with the monitoring of the wastewater for pathogenic viruses in Linz. The focus of the analysis is the respiratory virus SARS-CoV-2. On a weekly basis, samples are taken from the inflow of the Linz-Asten regional wastewater treatment plant and sent to TU Wien, where they are processed and subsequently analysed using RT-dPCR. The information exchange happens via weekly reports, which are sent to the regional wastewater treatment plant Linz-Asten. To provide a comprehensive picture of the SARS-CoV-2 infection dynamics, the reports include not only internal data from the measurements by TU Wien but also data from the national wastewater monitoring.
