Brief information on the project

The SARS Linz 2022/2023 project aims to monitor the wastewater of the Linz population for respiratory diseases. The main focus is on SARS-CoV-2, which is monitored throughout the entire project period. From October 2022 onwards, influenza will also be included in the monitoring program. To follow the development of the infection as closely as possible, a dense sampling plan of three samples per week was chosen at the inflow of the Linz-Asten regional wastewater treatment plant. The samples sent to the TU Wien are then processed and quantified for the specified targets using RT-qPCR und RT-dPCR. The exchange of information takes place via weekly reports, which are sent to the Linz-Asten regional wastewater treatment plant by the TU Wien.
