I’m here for you
I’m happy to assist you with advice and support. All conversations will, of course, be treated confidentially.
Responsibilities of the Disabilities Representative
The Disabilities Representative represents the interests of colleagues with disabilities or chronic illnesses. They draw attention to their needs and raise awareness of barriers and challenges in the workplace.
Another key focus is submitting proposals to improve employment conditions as well as the training and continuing education of people with disabilities. In addition, the Disabilities Representative ensures that legal requirements - particularly the Behinderteneinstellungsgsetz - are met.
If problems or deficiencies are identified, the Disabilities Representative informs the Works Council as well as the Rector or the member of the Rectorate responsible for employee protection in order to develop solutions together.
This also includes the right to support measures to compensate for disadvantages as well as the removal of barriers in buildings or information and communication technologies.
Right to Participate in the Works Council
The Disabilities Representative has the right to attend all Works Council meetings in an advisory capacity. The Works Council is required to invite the Disabilities Representative to meetings at the same time as the Works Council members.
Duty of the Rectorate to Provide Information
The Rectorate of TU Wien is obligated to inform, involve, and consult with the Disabilities Representative on all matters pertaining to their areas of responsibility.
Obligation under the UN Convention
The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities establishes the obligation to ensure that all persons with disabilities or chronic illnesses have the opportunity to pursue their professional development.
