Start of the summer semester 2023

We can hardly wait! Soon the registration for the summer semester 2023 will start - in our overview, you will find a number of exciting courses offered at the Research Unit for Regional Planning and Regional Development for the Bachelor and Master program. Have fun exploring our lectures!

Übersicht der Lehre des Sommersemesters 2023

As usual, the compulsory courses  Regional Planning Practice, opens an external URL in a new window, and Spatial Development Planning, opens an external URL in a new window (preparatory seminar for Project 2) take place in the Bachelor's program. This semester, Regional Planning Practice will focus on the province of Upper Austria. For lateral entrants, there will also be an Orientation Phase, opens an external URL in a new window in the summer semester, as well as the Planning Studio, opens an external URL in a new window.

This semester, for the first time, elective module 13 "Climate-sensitive spatial planning" will be offered. The elective module consists of the VU Climate-just spatial planning - discourse on the (climate) crisis in planning", opens an external URL in a new window and the project "Climate-just spatial planning - from the tipping point to the planning turnaround"., opens an external URL in a new window In this course, integrative spatial planning documents created in the context of student projects are blended by the students with information from climate modeling and tested and evaluated for their climate suitability on the basis of self-developed criteria. Based on this subsequent evaluation of their own planning decisions under the aspect of climate protection, the planning is revised with the objective of "100 percent priority for climate protection".

For the Master programme the Diploma Seminar, opens an external URL in a new window will be offered again. Registrations are possible from 15.02.2023.

In summer there will be a transdisciplinary  "WHOSE CLIMATE? – Claiming*Spaces" SummerSchool", opens an external URL in a new window on the topic of gender and climate at the landuni Drosendorf.

In addition, the field trip Experiencing Japan Part 2: Discovery, opens an external URL in a new window to Tokyo will take place in September 2023. All student who have completed Part 1 "Hospitality" are guaranteed a spot in the field trip.
