Personal Profile
Project Assistant Lea Fröhlinger, Dipl.-Ing.
Interests: rural areas, transformation, architectural practice, science communication, art, urban renewal
Lea Fröhlinger earned her master’s degree in architecture from the Vienna University of Technology. She has been working as a project assistant at the Vienna University of Technology since 2025 and is currently involved in the “landuni” project within the Regional Planning and Regional Development Research Unit. Previously, she was involved in research, teaching, and project coordination within the “Synergien Gestalten” research project in the Building Construction and Design Research Group. There, she focused on spatial and energy transformation scenarios for small towns and municipalities in the Wagram region (Lower Austria).
In addition to her research work, she has practical experience in an architectural firm and in construction practice, including through her involvement on a construction site featuring rammed earth walls. Furthermore, she has been involved in the conception and implementation of exhibition and educational formats, for example as part of the curatorial team for Archdiploma 2023 in the Urban Planning Research Unit. With the installation “ENZA” at Vienna’s Museumsquartier, she combines artistic-experimental approaches with architectural practice. Her professional interest lies in sustainable transformation and renovation processes in rural areas, taking into account social, ecological, and economic contexts—a topic she already addressed in her thesis.
