From 1973 to 2002, Manfred Straube was a Researcher (since 1977 Professor and since 1992 Head) at the Research Unit (formerly "Institute") of Law. From 2001 to 2002, he was also Vice Dean of the Faculty for Architecture and Planning. He was also significantly involved in the creation of the first postgraduate interdisciplinary courses in business, law and economics (BRW) at the Vienna University of Technology.
In 2002, he became professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna. He is a leading member of editorial boards of commentaries on Austrian commercial and limited liability company law, the manual on building contract and building liability law, as well as the Zeitschrift für Rechts des Bauwesens (ZRB).
Since his retirement in 2010, Manfred Straube has been an Advisor for the Austrian government, and remains closely associated with the Vienna University of Technology.
