At this year's vacancy conference in Kolbermoor/Bayern entitled "Anyone at home? Ideas for half-empty single-family houses", opens an external URL in a new window, four lecturers of the LVA "Single Family Homes - thinking ahead", opens an external URL in a new window Barbara Steinbrunner (FOB Boden), Isabel Stumfol (Center ländlicher Raum), Lena Schartmüller (FOB Städtebau und Entwerfen) and Thomas Hennerbichler (Lang Vonier Architekten) were also represented together with five students from architecture and spatial planning with a contribution on the history of the single-family house. The regular conference was organised by nonconform.

The contents and results of the course were presented during the four bus tours to visit some best-practice projects in the region. After the historical outline and exploration of individual needs, future thoughts on the single-family house were also presented, and our résumé from the experiences of two interdisciplinary courses on this emotionally debated topic was shared. At the individual excursion destinations, the challenges and strategies in dealing with vacancies in single-family houses were demonstrated with examples.

We thank you for the invitation and are pleased to have been part of the 8th Vacancy Conference.
