The position paper “Securing the Future: Austria as a Leading Production Location – Under Pressure as Never Before” was developed by Univ.-Prof. Sebastian Schlund (TU Wien), Univ.-Prof. Friedrich Bleicher (TU Wien), Univ.-Prof. Franz Haas (TU Graz), Univ.-Prof. Siegfried Vössner (TU Graz), Univ.-Prof. Christian Ramsauer (TU Graz), Univ.-Prof. Alois Ferscha (JKU Linz) und Univ.-Prof. Fazel Ansari (TU Wien).

The paper highlights increasing international competitive pressure and the risk of gradual deindustrialization, emphasizing the crucial role of industrial value creation for prosperity and employment. It identifies key action areas: short-term productivity improvements, digitalization and AI-enabled production, automation, and new value creation opportunities in the circular economy.

Finally, the ÖWGP formulates concrete recommendations for policy-makers, academia and industry to safeguard Austria’s position as a competitive and innovative production location in the long term. The positioning paper can be found here, opens an external URL in a new window.
