It was a pleasure to welcome the civil engineering students of the Technical University of Munich, opens an external URL (TUM) to Vienna — and to host them on May 27th at the Technische Universität Wien.

The visit took us to one of Vienna's most iconic venues: the hashtag#Musikverein, opens an external URL in a new window. Its Goldener Saal is not only a breathtaking architectural masterpiece — it is one of the finest concert halls in the world, its acoustic perfection shaped over more than 150 years. Preserving that irreplaceable legacy while a city keeps growing is, as we discovered, a deeply compelling engineering challenge. Thanks to the Musikverein for the guided tour.

We were fortunate to have Wolfgang Steinhauser, opens an external URL in a new window, CEO of Steinhauser Consulting Engineers ZT GmbH, opens an external URL, deliver a guest lecture on exactly this: the challenges and success story of decoupling and protecting the Musikverein from the vibrations of the nearby subway line extension.
