Through close collaboration with all departments within the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, we have not only achieved significant energy savings but have also provided a major impetus for the strategic transformation and densification of the existing spaces within the OC building.
The energy savings achieved through the measures implemented are being reinvested directly into a pioneering project: the Centre for Digital Fabrication of Structures and Systems (CDFS). This project transforms a hall previously used mainly for storage into an innovative, technologically advanced research and development facility aimed at significantly improving efficiency and sustainability in the construction industry through innovative manufacturing technologies (robotics) and materials.
As part of the restructuring, the existing high-bay racking will be efficiently relocated to the basement. A new access point from the garage will be created there. This will not only significantly improve the use of space but also create functional added value for research, teaching and experimental manufacturing.
This combination of energy efficiency, intelligent space optimisation and forward-looking infrastructure development represents significant added value for the entire property and impressively demonstrates how sustainable measures and innovative projects can work together to achieve a positive impact.
