The course “cycleFIT: RadTUour” has successfully launched in April 2026. The exercise is part of the FuTUre-Fit project cycleFIT and focuses on the practical analysis and further development of cycling infrastructure around TU Wien.
The course centers on the everyday travel routes of students and staff. Based on current mobility data, participants systematically examine selected cycling routes on site. Working in small groups, these routes are ridden, analyzed, and assessed using a structured evaluation framework. Key aspects include safety, comfort, attractiveness, directness, network connectivity, and cycling infrastructure. Following an introductory crash course on cycling planning, students develop a shared understanding of the evaluation criteria. A reference route is first analyzed to calibrate assessments before groups move on to independently evaluate additional routes. The results are documented, reflected upon, and presented in a poster session.
The course is open to students from all disciplines and requires no prior knowledge, only an interest in the topic and ideally access to a bicycle.
